Prime Video has had quite a successful run with romance television. Their latest entry is Every Year After, created by Amy B. Harris and Leila Gerstein. Based on Every Summer After by Carley Fortune, the eight-episode series follows the friends-to-lovers-to-exes story of Percy Fraser (Sadie Soverall) and Sam Florek (Matt Cornett), who first met while spending their summers in the lakeside town of Barry's Bay. Told through flashbacks and present-day drama, Every Year After chronicles how an unexpected tragedy brought Percy back to Barry's Bay, where the past is finally confronted.

A breezy watch, Every Year After is a green flag romance about relationships. As you await for more, there is a lot more content to keep the romance bug. If you're looking for a summer of love, these romance series are perfect to get your heart fluttering again. From another hit summer fun romance involving a girl and two boys on the beach to a city orphan girl who moves to a Colorado ranch where she embarks on a love triangle, there are more than enough shows to watch to fill the void Every Year After left.

'Dawson's Creek' (1998–2003)

Michelle Williams as Jen and James Van Der Beek as Dawson looking at each other in Dawson's Creek Image via The WB

Very few teen dramas are more iconic than Dawson's Creek. The classic WB series follows a close-knit group of friends— idealistic aspiring filmmaker Dawson Leery (James Van Der Beek), girl-next-door Joey Potter (Katie Holmes), slacker best friends Pacey Witter (Joshua Jackson), and worldly troubled teen Jen Lindley (Michelle Williams)—who grow up in the coastal town of Capeside, Massachusetts. Over the course of six seasons, the series chronicles their emotional journey from high school through college as they navigate first loves, heartbreaks, and ambition. Created by Kevin Williamson, Dawson's Creek was revered for its highly articulate, precocious teenagers who articulated their emotions as they tackled mature real-world issues, including divorce, teen pregnancy, sexuality, grief, and social class.

The allure of the series was its ability to treat teenage emotions with adult complexity, profound growth, and deep vulnerability. Through passionate, slow-burning storytelling, Dawson's Creek shaped the romantic drama genre. Dawson's Creek's central emotional anchor was the will-they-won't-they dynamic and complex love triangle of Dawson, Joey, and Pacey. Dawson may have been Joey's childhood love, but Pacey was the transformative partner. Regardless of the relationship over the series' run, the development was natural and genuine. Nothing came for the sake of the plot; romance arrived and departed for the sake of the emotional journey. A defining series that established the quartet as definitive Hollywood names, Dawson's Creek became the blueprint for coming-of-age dramas that followed.

'My Life with the Walter Boys' (2023–Present)

Natalie Sharp and Ashby Gentry in My Life with the Walter Boys Season 2 Image via Netflix

Coming-of-age stories revolving around love triangles have clearly become a trend. Especially if they're based on a novel. Such was the case for Netflix's My Life with the Walter Boys. Based on Ali Novak's novel of the same name, the series follows Jackie Howard (Nikki Rodriguez), a recently orphaned Manhattan teen who moves to a rural Colorado ranch with her guardian, Katherine Walter's (Sarah Rafferty) large family. Balancing grief and big-city habits while adjusting to a countryside life, Jackie navigates a turbulent love triangle with two very different brothers: mysterious, brooding, and troubled bad boy Cole (Noah LaLonde) and reliable, smart, kind-hearted Alex (Ashby Gentry). A unique fish-out-of-water story captures the comfort and escapism audiences seek in romantic dramas while giving them a perfectly addictive narrative.

My Life with the Walter Boys is a show that resonates with audiences, whether or not they have a big, bustling family. The draw of the tale lies in the lively, captivating characters and the allure of the love triangle. The story gives off just enough of the fluffy teen drama to hook you before introducing themes of resilience, loss, grief, healing, and emotional support. The deep emotional stakes have allowed My Life with the Walter Boys to maintain its dominance in the drama space. With a rich ensemble cast, which also includes Marc Blucas, Corey Fogelmanis, Johnny Link, Alisha Newton, and Connor Stanhope, there is literally a character for everyone to resonate with. A wonderful adaptation of Novak's story, My Life with the Walter Boys is the right next step after Every Year After.

'Normal People' (2020)

Daisy Edgar Jones and Paul Mescal sitting on a field in Normal People. Image via Hulu

As life happens around us, relationships may undergo significant shifts that hinder romance. Not every romance is perfect. In fact, that's one of the draws of romance series because of its authenticity. Watching the highs and lows lures viewers in because it's a realistic depiction of our own experiences. In a beautifully told drama, Normal People depicts the magnetic, on-again-off-again relationship between Marianne Sheridan (Daisy Edgar-Jones) and Connell Waldron (Paul Mescal). Spanning their high school years in Ireland through university, the Catherine Magee-created explores how their connection evolves amidst shifting social statuses, family trauma, and the deep insecurities of young adulthood. Based on Sally Rooney's novel, the acclaimed 12-episode series captures first love, miscommunication, and human vulnerability.

Perhaps Normal People was always destined for greatness, thanks in part to the then-rising stars of the time, Edgar-Jones and Mescal. Bringing natural chemistry, viewers are eager to go along on the journey because of the palpable emotion that anchors the story. Neither character is perfect. They are flawed. And with that, Normal People showcases how two passionately devoted individuals can struggle to express themselves even with the one they love. Human error happens, and Normal People doesn't shy away from showing it. Normal People's ability to sensitively display intimacy allows those moments to be tender rather than a spectacle. Normal People is brutally honest. There is no grand obstacle stopping Marianne and Connell from being together; it's just the mundane moments of life that add up and become problems.

'Off Campus' (2026–Present)

Ella Bright and Belmont Cameli in Off Campus Image via Prime Video

Now that Every Year After has arrived, Off Campus may be dethroned as the current romance obsession. Though the big difference is Off Campus is a bit lighter and has hockey. Thanks to Heated Rivalry, hockey is very much in. Created by Louisa Levy, the romance series follows the lives of elite ice hockey players at the fictional Briar University and the women who challenge them to grow up, navigate heartbreak, and commit to real relationships. Based on Elle Kennedy's book series, the first season centers on music student Hannah Wells (Ella Bright) and hockey captain Garrett Graham (Belmont Cameli) as they strike a mutual deal: Hannah agrees to tutor Garrett so he can keep his grades up and play, and in exchange, Garrett pretends to date Hannah to make her musician crush, Justin Kohl (Josh Heuston), jealous. As romance goes, nothing goes according to plan as the dynamic duo realizes love was right in front of their eyes. A sizzling series that celebrates the green flags of college love, Off Campus tackles what it means to navigate relationships properly.

Briar University may not be your college experience, but it's familiar enough to feel as if you're part of the group. An utterly entertaining hit, Off Campus is equal parts emotionally nostalgic and refreshingly modern. Though it's divided into boy and girl storylines, Off Campus promotes deep, authentic female relationships and the importance of camaraderie among teammates who champion healthy masculinity. Because every character, brought to life by a dynamic ensemble, is someone to cheer on, the various relationships and storylines are worth watching. Off Campus explores mature issues and traumas naturally without them becoming a narrative spectacle. Off Campus doesn't fill its season with fluff. Every beat for every character is essential. Whether they are the central story or being established for future seasons, Off Campus is smartly plotted, leaving you eager for more.

The Sorting Hat Speaks Your House Has Been Chosen

After careful deliberation, the Sorting Hat has made its decision. This is the house your values, your instincts, and your particular way of being in the world were made for.

🦁 Gryffindor

You have nerve. Not the reckless kind, but the deep, quiet courage that shows up even when you're terrified — especially then.

  • Gryffindors don't act because they're fearless — they act because they understand that some things are worth being afraid for.
  • You stand up for people when it would be easier to look away.
  • You charge toward what's right even when the odds are terrible.
  • Harry, Hermione, Ron — the heroes of Hogwarts's greatest chapter — all called the tower with the scarlet and gold home. And now, so do you.

🐍 Slytherin

You are driven, sharp, and utterly clear-eyed about what you want and how to get there.

  • Slytherin has long been misunderstood — painted as the house of villains when it is, at its best, the house of those who refuse to accept limits placed on them by others.
  • You are resourceful, strategic, and you play the long game.
  • You know your worth. You protect your own fiercely.
  • The dungeon common room with its view of the Black Lake is yours — and the ambitions that will take you further than anyone expects are yours too.

🦡 Hufflepuff

You are the kind of person that makes the world genuinely better just by being in it.

  • Hufflepuff is not the "safe" house or the "leftover" house — it is the house of those with the greatest heart and the most unwavering integrity.
  • You show up. You work hard. You don't need glory or recognition — you do what's right because it's right.
  • Your loyalty never wavers, even when tested.
  • Nymphadora Tonks, Cedric Diggory, Newt Scamander — some of the wizarding world's finest. And now you join them.

🦅 Ravenclaw

Your mind is your greatest gift, and you've always known it.

  • Ravenclaws are the thinkers, the questioners, the ones who find a puzzle irresistible and a good book better company than most people.
  • Ravenclaw is not merely about intelligence — it's about the love of learning, the pursuit of truth, and the rare courage to admit you don't know something yet.
  • You see the world with unusual clarity and depth.
  • Luna Lovegood, Filius Flitwick, Rowena Ravenclaw herself — all extraordinary, all original. And so are you.

'One Day' (2024)

Ambika Mod as Emma Morley and Leo Woodall as Dexter Mayhew in One Day Image via Netflix

Some days end up being the most pivotal ones in relationships. So what happens if you check in on the same day each year? You watch a 14-year relationship evolve in a remarkable way. Such is the case for the limited series One Day. Based on David Nicholls' novel and the 2011 film of the same name, One Day follows the intertwined lives of Emma Morley (Ambika Mod) and Dexter Mayhew (Leo Woodall). After meeting on their college graduation night in 1988, the show checks in on them on the exact same date, July 15th, every year for nearly two decades, capturing how their relationships, careers, and personal lives evolved. Unlike a traditional romance, the episodic formula is dedicated to a single year, allowing a natural progression with room to breathe.

A heart-wrenching drama, One Day operates as the ultimate slow burn. From misalignments and miscommunications, One Day depicts Emma and Dexter growing from confused university students into mature adults, navigating how their romantic interests and power dynamics constantly change, even if the heart knows what the heart wants. Call it a modern fairy tale; obstacles do stand in their way, but they find their way into each other's hearts though a happy ending you won't find. One Day remarkably examines life’s unpredictable moments, including grief, career struggles, and heartbreak. Thanks to its decade-spanning story, One Day is filled with nostalgia-driven set design, fashion, and an incredible, meticulously curated soundtrack. 14 episodes may seem long for a modern streaming series, but with two sensational leads who leave you eager to find out what happens next, One Day clips along as a perfect binge-watch. One Day will leave a lasting impression.

'Sullivan's Crossing' (2023–Present)

Chad Michael Murray looking at Morgan Kohan in Sullivan's Crossing Image via CTV

We could easily make this a double entry for both Robyn Carr-based series, Virgin River and Sullivan's Crossing, but since the Nova Scotia setting of the latter matches the Canadian setting of Every Year After, we'll go with the latter. The series follows Maggie Sullivan (Morgan Kohan), a successful neurosurgeon whose picture-perfect life in Boston is suddenly upended by a devastating professional and legal scandal. Needing an escape, she flees to her childhood home—a rustic campground in rural Nova Scotia run by her estranged father, Harry—where she must confront her painful past and navigate a complicated new romance. Sullivan's Crossing is a cozy comfort series with just enough cheese to be an addictive, low-stakes leisure watch, set against a stunning backdrop.

Shot on location in rural Nova Scotia, the gorgeous natural backdrop serves as a tranquil escape for both character and viewer. Even when drama arrives, the feel-good moments trump the melancholy. Similar to shows like Virgin River and Gilmore Girls, Sullivan's Crossing delivers a worthy romance to champion: Maggie and the rugged, mysterious handyman at the campground, California "Cal" Jones (Chad Michael Murray). And what's more comforting than Murray delivering in the nostalgia department? Their tension and emotional baggage make the eventual payoff incredibly satisfying. There is a comfort inherent in the narrative, stemming from its healing, second-chance arc. A perfect show for the background, Sullivan's Crossing is the epitome of a guilty pleasure.

'Sweet Magnolias' (2020–Present)

Heather Headley, JoAnna Garcia Swisher, and Brooke Elliott in 'Sweet Magnolias' Image via Netflix

Heading down south for romance, career, and family, Sweet Magnolias is based on the novels by Sherryl Woods. The series follows Maddie Townsend (JoAnna Garcia Swisher), Helen Decatur (Heather Headley), and Dana Sue Sullivan (Brooke Elliott), three lifelong best friends, as they support each other through the complexities of life in the close-knit, fictional small town of Serenity, South Carolina. With the perfect mix of Southern charm, small-town gossip, and wholesome romance, Sweet Magnolias is a warm hug of relatable relationships and family drama, centered on an unbreakable female friendship. As viewers journey to Serenity, Sweet Magnolias becomes the very definition of escapism. The hamlet is filled with beautiful townspeople, gorgeous scenery, and an optimistic atmosphere that showcases the highs and lows of small-town living.

Sweet Magnolias handles heavy issues like infidelity, divorce, and the struggles of being a single mother without ever being heavy-handed. This allows for a balanced tone that is uplifting, emotional, and always satisfying to follow. In the romance realm, rather than focusing purely on "will-they-won't-they" tropes, Sweet Magnolias features adult characters who navigate real, mature relationship hurdles such as divorce, hidden fears, and the balance of careers. With a diverse ensemble of characters having vastly unique experiences, the various romances satisfy everyone. There is the beautiful, enduring bond of Helen and beloved chef Erik Whitley (Dion Johnstone), the unexpected love of Maddie and her son’s baseball coach Cal Maddox (Justin Bruening), the second-chance romance of Dana Sue and Ronnie Sullivan (Brandon Quinn), and the classic childhood-friends-to-lovers Annie Sullivan (Anneliese Judge) and Ty Townsend (Carson Rowland). Sweet Magnolias is a perfect show as it literally has something for everyone.

'The Lake' (2022–2023)

julia stiles the lake Image via Prime Video

For something a little different, comes the Canadian Prime Video from Julian Doucet, The Lake. Set in cottage country in northeastern Ontario, the story follows Justin (Jordan Gavaris), a recently divorced gay man who returns from Australia hoping to reconnect with his teenage birth daughter, Billie (Madison Shamoun), whom he gave up for adoption. His plans for an idyllic summer of family bonding are ruined when he discovers that his late father left the family's beloved lake cabin to his scheming and picture-perfect stepsister, Maisy-May (Julia Stiles). The Lake centers on the hilarious, petty battle of wills as Justin schemes to win the property back, while also navigating the complexities of getting to know his teenage daughter. An easy, breezy, lighthearted comedy, The Lake explores modern family dynamics with a picturesque backdrop that makes you want to take a trip to Ontario.

With sitcom-style hijinks leading to laugh-out-loud jokes, The Lake provided a comfort watch that was easy to consume. Through its queer-friendly, progressive take on family, viewers are given the gift of normalcy through strong storytelling. Drawing comparisons to Schitt's Creek, The Lake prioritizes diverse relationships and storytelling. The most prominent relationship follows Jordan’s will-they-won't-they dynamic with hunky local handyman Riley (Travis Nelson). Even Billie gets in on the love affairs, including the rollercoaster romance with Maisy-May's son, Killian (Jared Scott), and a love triangle with professional tree planter Forrest (Jhaleil Swaby) and Forrest's sister Ivy (Max Amani). An underrated gem of a show, The Lake gives you everything you could want and then some.

'The Summer I Turned Pretty' (2022–2025)

If Every Year After felt eerily similar to another Prime Video adaptation, you're absolutely not wrong. But if you loved Every Year After, you’ll adore The Summer I Turned Pretty. Created by author Jenny Han, The Summer I Turned Pretty chronicles Isabel "Belly" Conklin's (Lola Tung) summers in Cousins Beach, which she spends with her family at the Fisher family beach house. As Belly grows up, she finds herself caught in a complex love triangle with the two brothers, Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno). Through Belly's coming-of-age story, she navigates first love and first heartbreak as feelings shift, emotions arise, and life experiences change everything. Packed with a perfect soundtrack, The Summer I Turned Pretty is a poignant, guilty-pleasure young adult soap that revisits carefree formative years.

Not since Twilight has a fandom gone so hard for a specific romantic interest. Whether Team Conrad, Team Jeremiah, or Team Single, The Summer I Turned Pretty was an addictive watch that you were immensely invested in. The series was anything but afraid to showcase the messy nature of young love. Set against the sun-drenched beaches, no matter the mistake, The Summer I Turned Pretty made it look beautiful. The show celebrated long-standing connections, predominantly the friends-to-lovers narrative. But nothing came easy, as this would not be exciting to watch. With nearly every character finding themselves interlocked in at least one romantic entanglement, The Summer I Turned Pretty made love look accessible. Easy to keep is another story. The truth is, the show's success has led to our adoration of romance novels as a series of late.

'The Way Home' (2023–2026)

Jordan Doww, Julia Tomasone, and Jill Frappier standing together in a garden in The Way Home Season 4 Image via Hallmark Channel

For the average television consumer, Hallmark Channel may not be in the typical rotation. Especially outside of Christmas. But thanks to the massive success of The Way Home, that's forever changed. Created by Heather Conkie, Alexandra Clarke, and Marly Reed, The Way Home is a heartwarming family drama with a time-travel twist. After a painful divorce, Kat Landry (Chyler Leigh) and her daughter Alice Dhawan (Sadie Laflamme-Snow) move back to their family farm in the fictional small town of Port Haven to live with Kat's estranged mother, Del Watson Landry (Andie MacDowell). It tells the story of three generations of Landry women who unexpectedly discover the power of time travel as they try to repair their fractured relationships. Over the course of the series, the Landry women jump between decades and centuries to uncover the roots of deep family trauma. Masterfully blending science fiction and mystery elements with a cozy comfort watch, The Way Home is a bold and risky series worth every minute.

Push aside your reservations about the Hallmark Channel as The Way Home stands up to the best from streamers and networks. A large-spanning epic story allows for a brilliant large-spanning ensemble, including stand-out performances by Jefferson Brown, Jordan Doww, Kris Holden-Ried, Alex Hook, Spencer MacPherson, among others. With many of the romance plotlines centered on the characters finding themselves, the stories range from healing through self-discovery to slow-burning friends-to-lovers dynamics. All thanks to the beauty of time travel. With the series at the end, there's no better time than now to binge it all and understand what the hype was all about.
