Aubrey Plaza's Death has the opportunity to cross paths with many MCU characters following her debut in Agatha All Along. Marvel Studios has recently introduced a number of powerful cosmic entities to the MCU, including the likes of Eternity, the Living Tribunal and the Watcher, and Agatha All Along debuted yet another. Adapted from Lady Death, who made her Marvel Comics debut in 1973's Captain Marvel #26, Aubrey Plaza brought Death into the MCU, who was revealed to have had a centuries-long love/hate relationship with Kathryn Hahn's witch, Agatha Harkness.
As an abstract entity, the embodiment of life ending in the MCU, Death is impervious to harm and can never die, as she is not technically alive. This means that Aubrey Plaza's Agatha All Along character has been in existence throughout the MCU's history, and will likely continue to play a role in the franchise as it continues to grow. The concept of death is a major part of many MCU characters' lives, so it stands to reason that Death herself could cross paths with these characters in the MCU's future.
10 Deadpool
Wade Wilson's Deadpool Debuted In The MCU In Deadpool & Wolverine (2024)
Fans of Marvel Comics will be aware that Lady Death and Wade Wilson have a long and complicated history, much of which has involved them forming some twisted romance which would be incredible to see in the MCU. Ryan Reynolds made his first appearance as Wilson in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but brought a modernized, more comic-accurate version of the Merc with a Mouth to life in Deadpool, its sequel and the MCU's Deadpool & Wolverine. While he hasn't yet joined Earth-616, Agatha All Along may have set up the perfect reason for his official MCU debut.

Deadpool & Wolverine Is Set Up To Finally Pay Off A 12 Year Old Avengers Villain Tease
Deadpool & Wolverine will bring back both familiar and new characters to the MCU, and the movie could be setting up a villain teased in The Avengers.
Deadpool and Death's relationship was established in 1998, when Deadpool became infatuated with Lady Death after having a series of near-death experiences. During 2002's Funeral for a Freak storyline, Death begins to reciprocate these feelings. There's no doubt the chemistry between Ryan Reynolds and Aubrey Plaza would be electric in the MCU, so it would be fantastic to see Deadpool and Death form a bond. After Agatha Harkness' demise, Death may find connection elsewhere, and Wade Wilson joining the MCU permanently poses the perfect opportunity.
9 Blade
Eric Brooks' Blade Debuted In The MCU In Eternals (2021)
While Lady Death and Blade haven't crossed paths in Marvel Comics, Death's dealings with the supernatural in the MCU creates the perfect bridge between Plaza's character and Mahershala Ali's upcoming Daywalker. Ali technically made his debut as Eric Brooks, a.k.a. Blade, in Eternals' post-credits scene, though he is set to appear in the flesh in Marvel Studios' Blade reboot movie. This project has had a tumultuous production period, with the story being reported to have changed a number of times, but introducing Death to the mix could create a solution.
Wesley Snipes reprised his role of Blade in Deadpool & Wolverine , but Mahershala Ali is expected to voice the character in Marvel Studios' upcoming Marvel Zombies series, and will return in Blade , whenever it releases.
As a human/vampire hybrid, Blade ages far slower than the average human, which could perhaps cause problems for Death. Aubrey Plaza's Death has already established ties to the supernatural corners of the MCU, which Mahershala Ali's Blade is set to headline. It would be fantastic to see Aubrey Plaza appear in Ali's MCU solo movie, and perhaps even among the rumored Midnight Sons team following her debut in Agatha All Along. Both Death and Blade are remarkably powerful characters, so it would be great to see them team up.
8 Guardians Of The Galaxy
The Guardians Of The Galaxy Debuted In The MCU In Guardians Of The Galaxy (2014)
Lady Death has crossed paths with a huge number of cosmic heroes and villains in Marvel Comics, which could provide the perfect opportunity for the Guardians of the Galaxy to return in the MCU's future. Most notably, there has been speculation that Marvel Studios may deliver an adaptation of Marvel Comics' Annihilation storyline in the MCU, which saw Death appear before characters such as Nova, Phyla-Vell and Quasar. The Guardians of the Galaxy's future is unclear after 2023's Vol. 3, so it would be wonderful to see them return in this expansive storyline.
Rocket Raccoon | Bradley Cooper | Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) |
Groot | Vin Diesel | Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) |
Kraglin Obfonteri | Sean Gunn | Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) |
Cosmo the Spacedog | Maria Bakalova | Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) |
Adam Warlock | Will Poulter | Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023) |
Phyla | Kai Zen | Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023) |
Blurp | Dee Bradley Baker | Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023) |
Aubrey Plaza's Death would play a key role in an adaptation of the Annihilation event, as this story sees the Annihilation Wave eradicate a huge portion of the universe. The deaths of trillions would certainly constitute an appearance of the formidable entity. In one storyline in Marvel Comics, Phyla-Vell, who was portrayed by Kai Zen in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, even became the avatar of an aspect of Death, Oblivion, which would be an interesting development in the MCU.
7 Peter Parker’s Spider-Man
Peter Parker's Spider-Man Debuted In The MCU In Captain America: Civil War (2016)
Lady Death hasn't met Peter Parker's version of Spider-Man in Marvel Comics, but did embark on an adventure with Ben Reilly's clone of Spider-Man during 2016's Dead No More: The Clone Conspiracy storyline. During this event, Lady Death takes the form of Marlo Chandler, who approaches Ben Reilly shortly after one of his resurrections during his time as the new version of the villainous Jackal. Death takes a special interest in Reilly, as no other hero has been resurrected so often, and she informs him this has corrupted his soul.
Marvel Studios' Spider-Man 4 has recently been given the release date of July 24, 2026.
This storyline could be altered to better fit Tom Holland's storyline as Peter Parker in the MCU. Aubrey Plaza's Death may be the only being who remembers Peter Parker's real identity, as everybody else forgot Parker thanks to Doctor Strange's spell in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Death could join forces with Peter Parker in Spider-Man 4 to embark on a new adventure, or perhaps could facilitate his own demise, leading to the MCU debut of Miles Morales or another version of Spider-Man, which is a tragic but exciting prospect.
6 Doctor Strange
Doctor Strange Debuted In The MCU In Doctor Strange (2016)
Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange is one of the MCU heroes who have toyed with the concept of death more than any other. Strange broke natural laws in Doctor Strange, dream-walked into his variant's corpse in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and harnessed the power of the Spirits of the Damned to use for his own benefit. Strange has little respect for the natural order, and this will have surely garnered Death's attention, especially if rumors are correct that Strange has recently caused an incursion event.

How Powerful The MCU's Doctor Strange Is Compared To The Comics
Doctor Strange is one of the most powerful characters in Marvel Comics and the MCU, but whether their powers match up is up for some debate.
Earth-838's Reed Richards explains that incursions have the capability to destroy entire universes, so if Strange caused one, risking the lives of billions upon billions of individuals, he will certainly be on Death's radar. Doctor Strange's more villainous variants will have made him a person of interest for Aubrey Plaza's Death, which could lead to her showing her face during Avengers: Doomsday or Marvel Studios' as-yet-unconfirmed Doctor Strange 3. Cumberbatch and Plaza would have excellent chemistry on-screen, so this partnership would be brilliant.
5 Loki
Loki Debuted In The MCU In Thor (2011)
Few MCU characters have died as many times as Loki. Tom Hiddleston's God of Mischief has faked his death a number of times, perhaps making a mockery of Death herself, while he also died permanently in Avengers: Infinity War before a variant took his place in the MCU. This variant went on to become the protector of the entire multiverse, transforming himself into a formidable cosmic entity, so it seems very likely that this new heroic Loki and Aubrey Plaza's Death could cross paths in the MCU's future.

I Know What Loki Season 3's Story Should Be About Now That The MCU Has Replaced Kang
I would love for Loki season 3 to be confirmed now that Marvel Studios is officially moving away from Kang's storyline in the Multiverse Saga.
Tom Hiddleston has teased his return to the MCU following the dramatic and satisfying ending of Loki season 2, and it would be great to see him partner with Aubrey Plaza as two powerful cosmic beings. This partnership could even present the perfect opportunity for Marvel Studios to adapt Death's romances, as Loki would certainly fall head over heels for the personification of Death. The MCU would benefit hugely from this powerful team-up, and the consequences and repercussions for the MCU could be monumental.
4 Thor
Thor Debuted In The MCU In Thor (2011)
After the ending of 2022's Thor: Love and Thunder, which saw Jane Foster's Mighty Thor enter Valhalla following her death, it seems very possible that Chris Hemsworth's Thor will make an attempt to find her. This could send him into the arms of Aubrey Plaza's Death, who could facilitate his arrival in Valhalla to find his lost love and perhaps other Asgardian warriors. It's likely, though unconfirmed, that Thor already has prior knowledge of Death, especially since his life has been plagued by death for thousands of years.
Jane Foster met with Idris Elba's Heimdall in Valhalla in Thor: Love and Thunder's post-credits scene. Heimdall was killed by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War .
Following recent developments in Chris Hemsworth's personal life, there has been speculation that Marvel's unannounced Thor 5 or Phase 6's upcoming Avengers movies could mark the end of the line for the actor in the MCU. If Thor meets his demise in an upcoming project, Death could return to the MCU to claim him, whether that be to take him to Valhalla or to some other semblance of the afterlife. As one of the most-established characters in the MCU, meeting up with Thor could give Death some gravitas and a deeper meaning.
3 Scarlet Witch
Wanda Maximoff's Scarlet Witch Debuted In The MCU In Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)
By introducing Death to the MCU, Agatha All Along may have created the perfect opportunity for Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch to return. There have been very vocal hopes for Wanda Maximoff's return since the former Avenger sacrificed herself at the end of 2022's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and while some theorized this would occur in Agatha All Along, this didn't come to pass. The Scarlet Witch's return has been teased, however, as Joe Locke's Billy Maximoff has returned to life and found a new body for his brother, Tommy.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier | 2014 |
Avengers: Age of Ultron | 2015 |
Captain America: Civil War | 2016 |
Avengers: Infinity War | 2018 |
Avengers: Endgame | 2019 |
WandaVision | 2021 |
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness | 2022 |
It's Billy and Tommy Maximoff, in their reincarnated forms, alongside the Young Avengers in Marvel Comics who track down the missing Scarlet Witch. This storyline could unfold in the MCU, with Billy and Tommy meeting with Aubrey Plaza's Death to urge her to bring Wanda Maximoff back to life after their own reunion. Death may be reluctant to bring the Scarlet Witch back to life, but this could prove pivotal in battling and defeating many villains, including Doctor Doom and perhaps the teased demon Mephisto, in the MCU's future.
2 Eternity
Eternity Debuted In The MCU In Thor: Love & Thunder (2022)
Few cosmic entities in the MCU have actually made physical appearances, but one of the most recent to appear is Eternity. 2022's Thor: Love and Thunder saw Christian Bale's Gorr the God Butcher travel to meet Eternity in the hopes of eradicating the MCU's gods, but instead chose to ask for his daughter to be resurrected. Since Eternity is said to grant one wish to the first person who finds it, it seems the entity's purpose in the MCU may already be over, but Eternity is only one of many formidable cosmic beings, just like Death.
Eternity first appeared in the MCU on a mural in the Power Stone's temple on Morag in 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy .
In Marvel Comics, Lady Death is the antithesis of Eternity, with Death representing the ending of life in the universe, while Eternity is the embodiment of the universe itself. Eternity has far more influence and power in Marvel Comics, so it would be great to see some of this adapted into the visually striking version of Eternity in the MCU, and partnering the entity with Death could reveal more about its true nature. This would also help to better establish Death as the personification of an abstract concept, rather than a more human villain.
1 Thanos
Thanos Debuted In The MCU In The Avengers (2012)
Perhaps the most notable Marvel character associated with Lady Death in Marvel Comics is the Mad Titan, Thanos, who forms an intense obsession with Lady Death since she approached him as a child on Titan. Lady Death first pushed Thanos to embrace his more psychopathic, murderous traits, which kick-started his path into becoming the universe's most feared warlord. This culminated in Thanos collecting the six Infinity Gems and wiping out half of all life in an effort to woo his love interest, but this storyline was completely changed for the MCU's Avengers: Infinity War.

I Finally Understand Why Thanos Was So Happy To Court Death
The recent conclusion of Agatha All Along has finally introduced Death, a character with important connections and links to Thanos, in the MCU.
Josh Brolin's Thanos sought to bring balance to the universe and solve overpopulation issues, even though The Avengers' post-credits scene teased his desire to "court Death." Aubrey Plaza's debut as Death in Agatha All Along means Thanos could return to establish his love for the entity. Brolin has teased the return of Thanos in the MCU's near future, and it would be brilliant to see him form at least a brief romance with Death, even if these feelings are not reciprocated by Aubrey Plaza's very human but otherworldly entity.
Agatha Harkness, after the events of "WandaVision," seeks to regain her magical powers. Joining forces with unexpected allies, including the son of an old adversary, she battles new mystical threats while uncovering hidden secrets in the magical realm.
