There's a lot happening in the hero's life when the fourth installment in the series opens, and just as much by the time it ends, meaning there are plenty of questions on people's minds as they walk out of the theater.

Director Destin Daniel Cretton and Holland came together to make the Spider-Man movie people have been seeking for a decade now. This iteration of the character is already beyond iconic, and he's finally in a spot people have been hoping to have him in for a while — a more comic-accurate one. This means that so much more is possible now that Spider-Man fans can look forward to, and there are plenty of questions on people's minds when it comes to what could happen next.

Is Spider-Man in 'Avengers: Doomsday' or 'Avengers: Secret Wars'?

Based on the post-credits scene, audiences now know that after the events of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Peter somehow ends up off world. There's no question that he'll be getting involved in the action against Doctor Doom (Robert Downey Jr.), but it's very much up in the air regarding which of the two upcoming Avengers movies he'll be making an appearance in.

He's not in any of the trailers for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, but Marvel Studios is no stranger to hiding huge secrets from their movies. However, usually the world gets at least a cast announcement for an inclusion in a movie like this as big as Spider-Man. So, there's a good chance he won't get involved until Avengers: Secret Wars. Making this a question that won't be answered until later this year in Avengers: Doomsday.

What's Up With MJ's Boyfriend?

Peter Parker's mental state is a huge contributor to the progress of his transformation throughout Spider-Man: Brand New Day and one of the things to affect him the most is the sight of the love of his life, Michelle Jones-Watson (Zendaya), and her new boyfriend (Eman Esfandi). While he only shows up once, the film ends with him and MJ still together.

There's a lot of opportunity for future Spider-Man stories and this guy getting in the way and being a potentially antagonistic figure. Many are interested not only in what lies next for his relationship with MJ, but what his thoughts on the events of Spider-Man: Brand New Day are. Plus, Marvel Studios doesn't just cast Eman Esfandi without having some sort of plan for him in the future, right?

Who's Running the Criminal Underworld Now?

With Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio) being arrested at the end of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, Tombstone (Marvin Jones III) being taken down in the four-year jump from Spider-Man: No Way Home to now, and it being explicitly stated that Spidey has taken down almost every major crime syndicate over the years, the question remains: Who's running the criminal underworld now?

The villain of the next Spider-Man movie could most definitely be the master of New York City's crime. Could Tombstone return? Will Fisk be back? Is another person going to rise up in the ranks? Maybe Mr. Negative? The opportunities here are huge, and the answer to this question could definitely lead to something huge for the series' next installment.

What's Happening With The Hand?

A major plot point in Spider-Man: Brand New Day is the fact that once the Wall-Crawler took down the infamous ninja group known as The Hand, the Department of Damage Control took them in and began to use them. However, once the conflict at the end of the film finishes, the question of what is going to happen with them in the future arises.

There's a good chance that The Hand makes a comeback in the next season of Daredevil: Born Again, given the fact that they are primarily Daredevil (Charlie Cox) foes. There's also the chance that whoever ends up running the criminal underworld from here on out takes them in and continues to make trouble with Spider-Man.

Where Did Jean Grey Go?

After the conflict with Jean Grey (Sadie Sink) comes to an end, and she finds her redemption, she flees New York City to go upstate. While the answer could seem obvious—she most likely is going to the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters—there's also no confirmation that said location even exists in the MCU yet.

With the world not knowing much about mutants yet and the X-Men not being seen anywhere in the MCU, there's a good chance the school actually isn't running yet. So, if this is true, then where could she be going? This gets people wondering what could be on the horizon for the X-Men in this cinematic universe.

One of the coolest cameos in Spider-Man: Brand New Day is the New Avengers leader herself, Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh). Turns out, Peter and she actually know each other relatively well. It's some great worldbuilding, and gets people wondering what other heroes the Web-Slinger could be in contact with, despite being more of a street-level superhero now.

The hero that people want to see him close to the most is, obviously, Daredevil, because of their personal history in the comic book mythology. He's no member of the Avengers, but having him in contact with other heroes is still super cool and a real treat to the fans. So, everyone's wondering who else he could be talking to, which could open up the chance for more heroes to appear in his movies in the future.

Who Else Has Spider-Man Fought With Over the Years?

The opening of Spider-Man: Brand New Day shows a montage of where the hero has been in the last four years, and it happens to include snippets of him fighting some classic Spidey villains like Scorpion (Michael Mando), Boomerang (not credited), Ramrod (Billy Clements), and Tarantula. But four years is a long time, and there's no way these villains are the only ones he's faced.

Has the Wall-Crawler fought bigger villains from the books in the time since Spider-Man: No Way Home — like the likes of Rhino, Kraven, or others? Having Scorpion introduced in the montage helped set him up for the rest of the project a lot, so if he has fought another big villain in the time jump, and they weren't important to this film's plot, it's understandable why they weren't shown. So, maybe the next villain for Peter has already interacted with him.

Where's J. Jonah Jameson and 'The Daily Bugle'?

Typically, the news station known as The Daily Bugle is a big part of Spider-Man's life. Whether they're simply hating on him at every turn, or he's working for them, selling photos to them of himself, they're traditionally involved quite a bit—especially the legendary J. Jonah Jameson (J. K. Simmons). Both the company and the character are completely missing from Spider-Man: Brand New Day, though.

While their absence isn't a detriment to the 2026 box office hit, it certainly would have been a great inclusion. While The Daily Bugle definitely wouldn't be out of business or anything, people can't help but think about what they're doing right now, and the kind of things that they're spewing about the notable Marvel superhero.

What Other Powers Does Spider-Man Now Have?

The main personal conflict for Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Brand New Day is his emotional state leading to a biological transformation—giving him organic webbing, extra strength, heightened senses, and more. Although he doesn't spend much time exploring these new abilities, given that he spends most of the movie trying to suppress them with an inhibitor chip.

This begs the question of what other abilities he may have that he hasn't discovered yet. If there are any, that is. While absolutely no one would want to see them, he did, in fact, get spider stingers when he went through a similar transformation in the comic books. He certainly wouldn't get stingers in the MCU, but there's a non-zero percent chance that he gets more abilities in the future.

What's Going To Happen With Peter, MJ, and Ned?

After making everyone forget who he is at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home, everyone was left wondering if Pete was ever going to tell them the truth. While MJ may have read his letter in the middle of the movie, she didn't immediately remember who he was. He does, however, end up causing Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon) to remember at the very end of the film, and it's hinted at right before that MJ is beginning to remember.

So, the biggest question that people are left with at the end of Spider-Man: Brand New Day is what could possibly come next for the trio of friends. Ned seemed pretty happy to see Peter again, but MJ was much harder to read when audiences saw her last on the rooftop from Spider-Man: No Way Home. What's next for these three? Only time will tell.
