Creature Commandos is based on the lesser-known property of DC Comics and follows a covert government group used for dangerous missions, similar to the Suicide Squad, but made up of inhuman soldiers.
The series promises to share a lot of connections with what is to come in the DCU, including the introduction of Rick Flag Sr, played by Frank Grillo. However, it is also a fun, violent, and outrageous show that can be enjoyed on its own. The series is filled with the kind of irreverent humor and strange characters Gunn has become known for while offering its own odd look at the DC universe from a different perspective. The first two episodes of the series arrived on Max on December 5.

The latest Star Wars series has arrived, providing a different take on the franchise. Star Wars: Skeleton Crew takes the focus off of the stoic adult characters of the franchise and creates an adventure about youngsters living in a galaxy far, far away. The show takes place in the same time period as The Mandalorian, highlighting the aftermath of the fall of the Empire. It follows four kids who make a discovery on their home planet that sends them on an adventure where they face the dangers of the galaxy.
While there are many family-friendly elements to George Lucas’ Star Wars movies, it is a lot of fun to see the franchise approach a true coming-of-age story, with pirates and mystery that feels as similar to an Amblin movie as a Star Wars story. Along with the young stars of the show, Jude Law plays a mysterious stranger who joins the kids on their adventure.
